Instructions

Follow these steps to create mozzarella sticks that are crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside:

  1. Prepare the Cheese:
    • Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 3 to 4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.
    • Place the cheese sticks in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up. This step helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly when fried.
  2. Prepare the Coating:
    • In a shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour.
    • In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
    • In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Cheese Sticks:
    • Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, ensuring it is fully coated.
    • Dip the floured stick into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
    • Roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs to the cheese.
    • For a thicker crust, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating process.
    • Place the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for another 30 minutes.
  4. Heat the Oil:
    • In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Use a thermometer to maintain the correct temperature.
  5. Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:
    • Carefully place a few sticks at a time into the hot oil.
