Creating this delightful bread requires some basic ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen. Here’s what you’ll need:

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 large egg

For the Garlic Herb Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Toppings:

  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

Making Garlic Herb Pull-Apart Bread is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to achieve the perfect fluffy rolls:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter

  1. In a medium bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, parsley, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Step 3: Shape the Rolls

  1. Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 24 equal pieces.
  2. Roll each piece into a ball, flatten slightly, and spread a small amount of garlic herb butter in the center.
  3. Fold the edges over to enclose the butter, pinching to seal.

Step 4: Assemble the Bread

  1. Grease a large baking dish or bundt pan. Arrange the dough balls in layers, brushing more garlic herb butter between each layer.
  2. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes, until slightly puffed.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush the top of the rolls with remaining garlic herb butter, and sprinkle with optional toppings like Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the pull-apart goodness!
